SPAL - Ascoli, post-match statements from coach De Rossi
Concluded the match against Ascoli, coach Daniele De Rossi reached the press room of the "Mazza" Stadium commenting on the performance of his boys as follows.
"In the first half we had to be more aggressive," said the Spallino coach, "with the ball in our possession we did very good things, but without the ball we had to attack the opponents more and this we failed to do, especially at the beginning of the match. The second half, on the other hand, is difficult to judge, I think we only missed the goal and I don't think it's an emotional problem, because the boys are solid in this respect. Under goal, however, we need a different coldness, otherwise players like Inzaghi and others would not exist."
"It's true, it's not the first time we find ourselves in numerical superiority and fail to bring home the victory, but today we created several chances by shooting often on goal. We crossed a lot and maybe turned the ball over a little too much when, instead, we should have gone deeper. We wanted to win it, when you stay in numerical superiority you think it's more attainable and we pushed for it, but that also creates more tension as it should."
"As you know I don't like to talk about individuals," concluded coach De Rossi, "but I like Prati from day one because of the way he plays, the way he participates in training, the way his teammates look at him and the boy that he is. Obviously he has a path to take, he has to play because he has to gain experience, but every now and then he will sit on the bench because that is also part of growth, but I think today in the first half he was the best player on the field. He is acquiring more precision than in the first games where he was more frantic, I am a rookie on the bench, but about him I am not wrong. Young people in general should be made to grow and be played, I have already seen three or four Primavera players that I would like to involve more next year because for their training it is right that they experience more contact with the reality of the first team."
